To Hon. James L. Pugh, U.S. Senate, Washington, D.C. Am deeply interested in matter concerning which my attorney Mr. Wilson telegraphed you Saturday, and beg wishes which are also mine. The passage of such a bill will greatly relieve the financial condition not only of my husband's estate but that of the University which was so dear to him and me. Kindly advise me by wire what progress you are making.
Mrs. Leland Stanford

I pictured the reality of being permitted to join in songs of praises to the King and beholding the Divine face, they had the real, here on earth was the imitation the play. The other life is the only real here we are weighted down solving problems as to the hereafter, here we are loaded with fears of death and seperations [sic] we know it has to come to all none escape, but we
hope all the time that the Angel of death will not knock at our doors to be let in, but we are always fearing he may come all this makes life here imperfect. What bliss to look forward to a reunion with all these earthly conditions removed and living in the atmosphere of our blessed Saviour. Our Saviour may be a visitor of earth many times even in these days but we are on such a material plane of thought we may never be able to acknow -ledge this. Thought [sic - Though] life

occupies my spare time I am trying to satisfy my sick hungry heart and soul it needs food of this sort to help bear the burdens the cares, the world looks so different to me now that my loved ones have gone from it. I cling more and more closely to my Father in Heaven and repeat this passage “ He doeth not afflict willingly” “Thou O Lord art a God full of compassion-“ I am so thankful that you think of me in my desolation and loneliness - I need your love and helpfulness - and thank God for my good loylal [sic] friends. Remember to give your good husband my regards - always yours truly
