Mr. Russell J. Wilson Kind friend: -

I hasten to let you know I have changed my mind about going away. I did feel when I planned to go that I was much in need of change and rest and thought first consideration should be given to my health. I feel better now and I am convinced this it too important a time for me to be beyond the

I will go somewhere within easy reach and can get to the City once a week - oftener if you need me. I shall be here heart and hand to do my part.

Yours respectfully Mrs Leland Stanford

dated June 21st 1895 he states that "this note as you will notice is for a new loan for the amount named and is made as a part provision for funds required for my payment of interest cupons[sic coupons] due on the 1st [provisso?]"

I cannot see that there is any obligation on the part of the Pacific Improvement Co to provide funds for the payment of interest cupons[sic] of other corporations and as the loan is confessedly for the interest of other companies than the P.I. Company and is a new loan and not made to pay or renew any existing obligation of the P. I. Co. I must respectfully decline to endorse the same, and have requested my brother to return it to Mr Douty without my signature, and I am confirmed in my beleif [sic belief] as to the [position/positiver ?] take upon a fresh reading of the agreement of March 27th 1894 between us.
