Know all men by these presents that I Leland
Stanford of the City of Sacramento hereby constitute
and appoint Josiah Stanford Jr of the City
of San Francisco my true and lawful Attorney
for me in my name place and stead to manage and
control my business. My property real and
personal with full power and authority to perform
all and every act and thing whatsoever requisite
and necessary to be done in and about the
said business and property as fully to
all intents and purposes as I might or
could do if personally present with
full power of substitution and revocation
hereby satisfying and conforming all
that my said Atty or his substitute
shall lawfully do or cause to be done
by virtue hereof.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set
my hand and seal this 18th day of January
AD 1861.
