Albany, Mar 30th, 1880

Dear Friend Wiltsy,

I have been collecting a great many stamps to show you when I get home. I must not forget to tell you of my pet roadster, my bicycle; every Saturday that is a pleasant day. I go out on the boulevard and ride. The boys here have formed a bicycle club and I am one of the number; we have eight bicycles in the club, and have a captain, bugler, and secretary; we have badges made of ten cent pieces with the initials of the club A. Bi. C. engraved in them, very much like the one you gave to me.

I had a dog given me on Christmas. I call her Cootsey, like the name in that book I gave you; and she is a rowdy to be sure, the other day she ate up my pigeons.

There is some snow on the ground but not enough for sleighing.

Do you ever ride on the California, street cars. The first of April will soon be here. I hope you will not have many tricks played upon you.

I shall be very glad when I can see you again,

Yours truly,

Leland Stanford Jr
