Dear Mother and Daddy

As you can see I got the things that you sent me and I was very glad to receive them. The little drinking glass was broken but that can easily be replaced. The dress is just darling and everyone was just crazy about it and they made me try it on for them. I can't wait to wear it; I just hope that I do soon.

There is going to be a formal dance on the eleventh of November and I can't decide whetehr to ask George or Bob Roantree. I really think that I had rather ask George, but I'm afraid it's going to have to be Bob because he's taken me out an awfully lot and to all of the medical school parties in the last two months; so I really owe it to him to ask him and I think that everyone will be mad at me if I don't, so, I guess that I will. George is really much better looking and all the girls here are quite interested in him which has made me look at him in a

new light; so I guess that I'd better keep him on the string if such a thing is possible. I went out with both of them this week-end. I went with George to a dance on Friday night at the house where he lives. It is the most wonderful place and makes all the other boys' living houses seem like shacks. It looks like a large English hunting lodge. On Saturday night I went with Bob to another dance here on campus. I had a wonderful time both nights, but I think that Friday night was the best. Both of the boys are coming over to see me today. George before dinner and Bob after. In the meantime I'm doing my homework.

Incidentally, I did go to church this morning and the new minister is much better than the one who was here this summer.

My program last night was a grand success and I was so glad because I had really worked awfully hard on it. The first number was a song about girls here at Roble and their date life; it was called "Behind the Sunning

Doors." As a very appropriate sequel we had a little skit about the men here on campus, each type of man having a little poem written about him. Then I got all the sponsors down on me by having a little truth and consequence program in which they were the guinea pigs. I made one girl make violent love, the way Charles Boyer, Henry Fonda and Bob Hope would do it to Sally's little floppy bed horse and I made another sing the last page of the "bawl-out" (Stanford directory) to the tune of Yankee Doodle. I was the mistress of ceremonies and I directed the skit. We gave it at the barbecue fir Roble girls.

I have to go and do some more studying now before George comes, but you're up to date on my affairs now, so I'll write again in a couple of days when something new happens.

Tell Margie I'm very disappointed that I haven't heard from her - I'd like to know all about her little affairs.

Love to all, Mary

P.S. I just learned that we are
