Dear Mother and Daddy,

Well my program is all settled. I'm taking Western Civ, Physical Science, French and Spanish. I wanted to take another course along with that but I couldn't seem to find a suitable course at a time that I could take it. As it is now I'm minus two units which I should have to be a sophomore in the spring. I talked to my advisor about it and he was absolutely set against my taking another course; instead he gave me a long lecture about bringing my grades up to a Phi Beta Kappa level. I sort of laughed to myself, but he seemed to think that I could do it; however, I'm still very doubtful as to whether I could be able to do that. I'm having a little trouble with Mrs. Belenky about my music lessons. I don't seem to have a free time when she does, but I'm sure that something can be worked out. It was rather nice

to get back, although I certainly hated to leave home. But I'm all enthused about studying now, especially since I found my name on the Honor List. I certainly was proud of that and I am certainly going to try and not fall below it. There were only twenty-eight girls out of about 260 girls in Roble.

I was awfully glad to see all the girls again, especially Ruth and Sally Sutter. We'er all having a gay time now. I also saw Bob and I went to the movies with him last night - Isabelle also went double date with us - Jim was sick, so he and Sally couldn't go. Yesterday when I was standing in line to hand in my registration book, Bob came up to talk with me; then George came up on the other side and started to talk. I got a little flustered. There are more men here this quarter and about the same amount of girls, so that's very nice. There's a new med. school of 60 - plus the old one which is still here. I'm just dying to go out with one of the new navy med.s but I don't quite know what to

do with the old one. There are also a number of new army boys, about a hundred I think, and its rumored that there is a r-12 unit moving in - So at least things should be a little livlier this quarter, which will be fine as long as I keep my grades up to their level.

Tell Margie that I want a letter from her, bribe her or blackmail her or do something.

Love to all, Mary.

P.S. Incidentally I got a letter from Peter Boyes. He didn't say where he was, but I sure he is in England. The letter was v-mail and he spoke of seeing a peak in Scotland - from the air that is.

Love, Mary
