Dear Mother & Daddy,

We made it - rocker & all. No traffic & Pooh slept all the way - almost. She woke up right on schedule at 5:45 A.M. as we were going through Santa Clara. She finished the trip in the front seat, telling Cindy all about life in Palo Alto. Everything arrived safe & sound. The Hakata dolls are safely ensconced temporarily in the shelves of the buffet. They look great!

Since getting back we've done next to nothing except basic maintenance. Jim has been trying to finish the Jupiter, but every time he finishes something they discover some horrible mistake made by the butchers who previously worked on it. Jim was only supposed to wire it, but so far he's practically rebuilt the engine, & the exhaust & electrical systems.

By the way, I will only order you one

Rich Moisture Suds, because after Christmas, it will be in some pretty good sales. That's the time to stock up on basic things.

We are still looking forward to using our [Koyota?] Kooker. Jim set it all up, & it fits beautifully on the hearth. As soon as I get some good charcoal & we decide what to cook, I'll let you know how it turns out. Last night, I made enchiladas from a recipe given me by a girl at work. They were terrific & after two apiece, we were stuffed. They freeze & reheat beautifully, & since the recipe is for 12, it's like having TV dinners on hand, only much better. The girl kept telling me that she'd make anchiladeys for dinner, & when I finally figured out what she meant, I asked for the recipe. I checked it out with one of my clients who is

an ace with Mexican recipes. (She grinds her own chilis on a stone handed down for so many generations, they don't count any more.) She gave it her stamp of approval. What I really wanted to know was how she made her sauce, since The recipe calls for "1 large can of Las Palmas sauce." My client & the other ladies of the Mexican community also use Las Palmas sauce, so it must be just like downtown. Tastes fine!

We really enjoyed everything about our Thanksgiving in Beverly Hills. The turkey was fabulous, as was the rest of the food. Pooh's new clothes are lovey & drip-dry, & she really enjoys Cindy - the dolls, the fine barbeque equipment, the rocker, the tools & every thing else are just great. Thank you very much for all the nice things you both did. I hope you

understand Daddy, why we did not accept the car. It's just too big a gift and we really don't need it. We do appreciate your generosity, but you've done so many other things that we would feel much better if you would realize the balance of your investment in it yourself, & apply it to your own financial situation.

The weather up here has really turned freezing. Pooh is really making good use of her car coat on these cold mornings. Jim scrapes ice off of the windshields every morning. Things will probably warm up when it finally decides to rain.

Tues. Got your letter today. Sorry I didn't get this off earlier, but we've been busy catching up, at home & at work. I didn't get home until almost 9:00 tonite.

There are a few things down there, that I left in the closet, not because I didn't want them

but there just wasn't any place to put them. That includes the coin collection, clothes, & green stamps.

12-20-59 It's been a rough week. Pooh got an ear infection that manifested itself all Mon night. The Dr. gave her a penicillin shot on Tues. but on being checked on Fri, she still had it. Yesterday morning, she raised the roof for about two hours with another earache. The doctor prescribed 12 doses (1tsp) of some penecillin stuff that looks and tastes like orange pop (for $4.00?!). Pooh absolutely refuses to consider it, straight or camoflaged, so we administer it with duress. Must be working tho, because today she'll let me touch her ear. Last night, I came down with something, too. I have just today to kick it in, & thru a horrible short week ahead, containing 2 wks. work.

The Christmas cards are halfaddressed, the shopping half-done, & nothing is wrapped. Be expecting some packages, some time around Christmas or New Year.
