Dear George

Just thought maybe youd like to hear from Whitworth first
hand so I'll type you a nice long single-space so I can say more.

I have really enjoyed seeing your letters to Mom and Dad.
It sounds like you are having a simply marvelous experience and
Im really happy for you. I have been thinking lately in terms
of maybe spending my Junior Year Abroad in France and am plan-
ning to begin correspondence on that idea quite soon. I just
read an advertisement for it put out by the Presbyterian Church
and it quotes cost between $1400 and $200 which is not much more
than I would spend at a year at Whitworth. The problem of course
will be in getting accepted

Well I have now finished my first semester at college and
can look back on it with some sense of pride as well as a sense
of challenge for greater achievements. I have not received my
grades yet and cannot be too sure as to what I got. Providing
I got a B in zoology (which is quite uncertain) I will crack the
3.0 barrier and if I also got an A in English I will probably go
3.2!! This is not quite as good as I have hoped but for the first
semester of college in my major it isn't too bad. This semester
should be easier ins some respects; it is mostly reading courses
should be easier in some respect; it is mostly reading courses
and this takes more discipline than practical courses that re-
quire assignments every day. I am taking Zoology English Speech
Gospel of Mark (Im at "Bible Banger' now) History of Civ. Bowling
and Personal Health.

Between semester I did quite a bit of adventuring. On
Friday I went skiing for the first time enjoyed it muchly.
On Saturday I had to work on a concert that is being presented
at the college next Friday night in connection with Snow Frolic.
It is sponsored as a benefit for the All School Project (getting
read blazer for the choir and orchestra for their California tour
this spring ) of which I am Co-Chairman so needless to say I
have been quite busy on that for the past two months. Sunday after
church and an early supper I went skiing and with Jerry BErndt
next door. This time it was much faster and harder for me but I
did still enjoy it. When we got back from skiing Jerry and I
decided to go to PAsco (about 150 miles south of here near the
Oregon border) and stay with his roommate Gary Dukelow. We
got there about 9pm Sunday night and left Tuesdya morning about
noon. During the say we had a little party at Gary's home
(which was a beautiful monstrosity) and invited a couple of Whit-
worth girls over who had been staying right near Pasco. This ad-
did a little excitement to the weekend!!

I started classes yesterday and so far they seem quite in-
teresting. There are a lot fo new faces in the classes ( I was
going to say strange faces but decided that was too harsh!)

Tomorrow night I am doomed for a good time. I am taking
Lois Burt (whom I have dated quite a bit this year) over to
Coeur D'Ailene Idaho for dinner and dancing. It is about 30
miles from here and is supposed to every beautiful. This is
to sort of celebrate all the fun weve have together this past
semester!!

Well old boy I guess Ive given you all the latest and
used up a page doing it so I best close. Keep those letters
coming cause they are really colorful and interesting and again
I say don't see too many of those French follies!! I warned you!!

Love

Tom
