good as it could have been, but that's life I guess, it was still good though. The second was simply a conglomeration of Tom Lehrer's songs but the people were so good (as were the songs) that it was absolutely hysterical.

DAY 45: Spent most of my day shopping - Harrod's was a zoo but I'm virtually finished now so I guess it was worth it. Saw two more shows, The Dresser and Once in a Lifetime, both good (the former about the dresser for an actor, the latter a musical).

DAY 46: Slept in a little (our host is out of town visiting some people) then took a long walk and saw about half the Tate Gallery. Talked for a long time (thought we were going to get some sleep - HA!).

DAY 47: (Monday July 28) (This is [the?] start of 3 BAD days, not much will be said, so don't be surprised, but I want to get this in the mail) Had to go to Cliveden to close the bank account but missed the train I planned to be on (they hid it from me) so didn't get out and [there and?] back, until late. My shoes [stuck?] to my feet and I had to waste time and I could hardly walk. Got to the National and the play I was going to see was sold out, spinted to another play The Hothouse by Harold Pinter which I didn't understand - HELP!

DAY 48: The day of the airplane disaster which we all know about so I won't go into. Took our host to tea at the Ritz which was much fun and then we all (plus another tourist) met for dinner and split for the shows (I'd seen what they were seeing). My show was [bad?], and I'd even been warned but didn't listen - so what else is new?
