Dear Doctor Tresidder "Hello" to you, and to Stanford. It was a very pleasant surprise to hear from you - and to find out how Stanford is getting along these days.

As for the questions you places before me; i'll try to do my best to help you with your analysis of the servicemen point of view, concerning the post-war Stanford.

1. I hope to continue my education at Stanford, upon completion of the war; if at all possible. 2. I shall pursue my original course in aeronautical engineering. 3. As I am in the Air Force, and a pilot - my viewpoint on the changes that could be made in the course, are as follows: (a.) Subjects not essential to the cause should be eliminated; although, could be made electives (I realize that all the subjects, in some way have a place in your education; but usually prolong the cause of study several years). The aeronautics course should be made 4 years, insead of 6 yrs; and include more practical work in the field. (b.) As I have spent my entire military career training as a fighter pilot - I believe that my time in the service will benefit me, in the course of study; of the course is brought up to data, including the latest type of aircraft ect.

4. I shall live off campus in an apartment, a home - with my wife. I should appreciate some sort of housing bureau; which could help me find such form of housing. I know many of other returning vets would also appreciate such a service. 5. As for other extra-curricular activities - I think that should be answered when we return - and see what facilities are at hand. However - I do think that more time should be spent on sports, of all kinds; because they tend to give a person a feeling of teamwork - and thats' what counts in the post-war world.

Changing the subject - I don't think it will be too long until many of us are back at Stanford; and can carry on in the "best Stanford manner". Speacking of the " best Stanford manner, brings me back to the war. I most emphatically think that more pride should be taken in observing the rules and traditions of Stanford - in the same manner as we now observe the traditions of the service. I was back on the campus, after a great deal of us had departed and noticed a [lapity?] in observing many of the best Stanford traditions. Imparticular - the cheerful "hello".

The many best to Stamford [C.?] Scott Goldsborough 5th A.C.
