Monday night 10th April 1809 Mr H Curry in compiny with Messrs S. B. C & G. at Mr T's house the following conversation took place - Mr B said that Gov B used Mesrs I. K & L very ill be sending them to goal.  Mr A defended the conduct of Gov B but Mr B was too much for Mr A - insisting that they was sent to goal without the knowledge of a Magistrate when Mr H gave a Naritive of the circumstances and Mr B was silenced upon that subject - &  soon after Mr A left the compiny and the conversation turned upon the conduct of Mr Mac. When Mr C calld Mr Mac some ill name's /such as dam'd villian &c/ and further Mr C observ'd that when he left England for this Port he was anxious to bring any letters &c  the that might introduce him, &c &c - accordingly Mr C went to the Post office at Portsmouth and found three letters numbered 1.2-3 addressed to Gov B which he carefully brought thinking that they - might be of service to him, but when Mr C came to this Part & finding Gov B in arrest he knew not what to do - but said that he took the letters upto Government house & lay'd the three letters on the sofa when Mr  Mac came in and took the said letters & broke them open read them and kept them. Mr C was a little warm when he entered the above & inquired if it was not a vilanous act upon which Mr M observed  that Perhaps the letters was on service and Mr Mac was order'd to do so by the Lt Govr to which Mr C replied there no such thing and that he veryly believed that they was private letters from Gov B & wife - upon which Mr B told him never to mention the same again and soon after Mr B withdrew and went home leaving Msrs C.J. & H by themselves --------------

Parramatta 6 March 1809 New South Wales

Revd & Dear Sirs - The above date reminds me that it is just twelve years since I landed in Otehaita from the good ship Duff and By the help of The Lord I continue to this day, and have the greatest cause to Bless and adore the Patience of my covenant God for not cutting off as a cumberer of the ground and when I am enable'd  to make the comparison between my vile ingratitude and the Supence bounding goodness of God in His kind providence and grace to me and mine for these many years past.  I am but lost in wonder Love and Praise

By the ship Albion in Septm last we sent you all the information we thought was worth Troubleing you with, and as our connection is purely of a Spiritual nature I pass over the convedred state of this country to inform you that Religion is carried on through the colony much in the same way as when I wrote to you last.

Hawkesbury River and I hope you will pray with us that when ever it is complate The Lord will take to himself His great power and Reign there in, and cause his Glory to fill the place. As heretofore, in conjuction with Bro Youl  we continue to carry on the worship of God through that district as well as in various others and we trust that our labour has not been in Vain in the Lord -

By the last conveyance we had no news from Otaheite to transmit to you but a few days since the Perseverance returned to this port and bring intilgense not of a very pleasing in my nature.

The Parramatta that took supplies & ware, tea, flour, &c for the Brethren we learn never touched there and we have reason to suspect that she is lost - The Perseverence arrived safe at Otaheiti with the articles  the books and Mr & Mrs Elder from this colony but some altercation took my place Captain Folkoner now / a. gentelman that I much respected/ shot himself - The Bretheren are just silent upon the Solomn subjects and neither mention his name nor refer to the act in their letters addressed to The Rev S Marsden or myself - But I learn say report that when - the Elders work on - there [indecipherable] made some complant to the Bretheren about Mr Folkener's improper conduct to his wife and upon Mr F hearsay of the same he called his ships complaining to gather and asked them seperatly if ever they saw him use Mrs Elder ill

in any shape whatever, in answer the ships company declared that that they never did - upon which Mr Falkener observed that he could not hear the reflection and went below and that himself had instantly observing the slay of the Perserverence an unexpected Rebellion broke out which made a sudden change in Pomaris officers, an the Inhabitants of Nativie as well as the greater part of the Natives in the Island joined the Rebel party against the King which Brought the Bretheren into the most Perilous situation and some of the Natives telling the Bretheren that they was sure to be cut off, as well, as Pomari and seeing that Pomari had lost all his influence and authority. They all came to a determination to leave the Island and proceed to at Island that of Huaheine accordingly they engaged the Perseverance and all the Missionaries their wives children & King Pomari with all the Property they possible could obtain went on board the Vessel. But from upon a Second concideration would not leave for fear, he, by so doing should lose the sovereynty of the Island for ever, therefore he returned & four of our single Bretheren came to a resolution to remain with him namly Nott, Scott, Wilson & Hayward at the remainder Mr & Mrs Henry and children Mr & Mrs Eyre Mr & Mrs Elder Mr Devies & Mr Tessier set sail from Oteheote at 11 oclock in the morning the 10 of Nov 1808 and cast

Anchor about the same hour the next day in the harbour of Huahine - thus you see how The Lord in his alwise providence scatters us over the face of the Earth may we learn to be still, that we may see His purposes Ripen fast -  which are unfolding every hour.

We find when the Vessel left there that they all enjoyed good health & except Mrs Elder, and Bro Henry observes in his letter dated 13 Nov that Mrs Elder was very poorly, but today She is much better - I have not time to add any more, and is fact. The Bretheran have been so contracted in their in their information that I have no  more to add - Inclosed is a copy of their letter to the Revd Saml Marsden and if that gentleman has not left England. I will thank you to deliver it to him after you have seen its contents as I must conclude I humbly beg an intreat in your prayery and a continuance of your correspondence and Believe me is the best Bonds

Revd & dear Sirs your obedient servant In the people of you Dear Lord Jesus
