Revd. and dear Sir,

I am desired by the Bishop of Sydney to inform you with reference to your letter of the 21st. instant that his Lordship hears with much gratification of the desire of the Directors of the Fitzroy Iron Mine Company to establish a Church of England School in connection with their works and that so soon as a suitable School house shall have been erected upon Land conveyed either to the Bishop or to Trustees for School purposes he will with much pleasure recommend to the

Denominational School Board the appropriation to the School of an annual Salary from the funds at their disposal.  The Bishop is not at present informed of any funds available for building purposes.

 I am also directed by the Bishop to inform you that he has recommended to the Denominational School Board the appropriation to that school of a Stipend of £20. (making with the increase of 75 per cent £35.) for the year 1856.

I have to inform you that

the business and correspondence on behalf of the Bishop of Sydney relating to the inspection and general Superintendence of the Church of England Schools in this Diocese will until further notice be carried on at this office.

George arrived on Friday with 21 Horses he says he lost six on the mountains —

I got the Tea & Sugar up on your account — Sold the land to Robt. King — Mr Ash has declined to purchase so that I am free — When you write say whether you would recommend me to sell that part of OConnell Plains &c — Roberts says he had did not have the harness nor do I think he had

but I believe he had a part of the Buckg Tackle — I have not seen the part of the plough they speak of — I saw a broken Plough at their place but I thought they sent it to be repaired — The Trace harness they had when they sent a Team of horses to Sydney — Fred has just started for Parra [Parramatta]

I see that he took up 58 of our horses — We have heard nothing of the Dray  I think you said it was to leave last thursday  Probably they have lost their Bullocks or got bogged — We have just heard that they have robbed [Javier?] Field — of Money &c [Took?] John Desk &c.  love to all Ever yours [faithy?] Tho Hassall
