Thursday May 4th [1828?]

My dear Thomas
I received a letter from you last night but
regret sending has not come to [indecipherable]
you quite puzzle me in saying that you have
written a letter which you kmow will hurt my
mind and yet you add I must be sensible
you would not write any thing to that purpose
for what purpose have you then written
I am sorry if I have done any thing to offend
you, but I am wholly unconscious what it arises
from you must as the old adage [get?] pleased
again. I think I may say I am in no danger that
your love for me will ever make you mind
to my faults as is the case with [Mrs?]Hill for
any thing unpleasant was ever raised about
me I think you would be the first to believe
it. but as I have not seen this letter yet
[indecipherable] to tease myself about it. and
therefore I hasten to inform you that [Hennis?]
arrived this morning with the packet.
