Allow me to add that if it suits your convenience to send me two more hogshead of wine, I shall be very happy to get them. Speirs is very anxious to try four red wines, & I have a collection of a remarkably good one like Hermitage, which however, I think your brother was not sure it would stand the voyage. But if you send any, I will trust your judgment. My agents are Banton & Mackeith, 33 Abchurch Lane, (over from the late Mr Musprath) who will take charge of anything (including letters by the bye) & make all necessary arrangements.

I observe by the reports of the late discussions in the Assembly that some alterations are proposed to be made in the Police arrangements of some of the Districts, by appointing the Clerks to act as Police Magistrates and Commisioners of Crown Lands.
Can you tell me whether any alterations are likely to be made in the District – and if so whether

my appointment as Comr of Crown Lnds will go with the others.
Of course if all the other Comms Services lose their Situations, I can say nothing against losing mine, but should any of them be appointed Police Magistrates, with the duty of Commissioner attached to the office may I calculate upon your influence to obtain the appointment for me – I do not request this so much upon my

own account as for the interest of this part of the District. Since we lost our Clerk and Chief Constable, both the officers appointed in their places have been resident at Camden – and consequently I may say the whole Police Staff are centred there.
