Rode Heath 19th Octr Friday Aftn

We have just come in from a Railway excursion to Minton's
Manufactury of Fine Staffordshire Earthen Ware including
Encaustic Tiles and many very beautiful objects in this
line. It is at Stoke upon Trent & we travelled on the Crewe
to Derby Railway. We enjoyed this trip greatly, and
Elizabeth, who had not before seen anything of the
sort was especially pleased at the various processes by
which mere clay is converted into objects of such grace
& beauty & contributing so much to our daily enjoyments.

We are to go back to Middle tomorrow then
till we [?] next when we wend our way
back to London for Winter Quarters. I
shall wait for [?] and [?] from
Middle in London. Edward has been
Staying at Cholmondeley Castle which
as you know is not far from this place
or Middle. We heard from him about a
week ago when he was quite well & con-
clude that he has gone back to Lon-
don [?] as he expressed his intention of
doing. I have little to write about that
I can compress into [?] paper [?]
& will tell you first of all that we
are quite well and happy – I think
derived benefit from our [?] on this
Earth. At Middle we have been part of a
Family occasion – J. Marjoribanks & Arty Willy
& his bride, Fanny [?] a sister of
Mr. D. of N. [?] They leave tomorrow
or Saturday in [?]
