and explaining the various properties
of the different races. The general observation
was that each seemed to have been
moulded at will upon mathematical
principles, so perfect appearance to be the
results of careful and intelligent breeding.
They were extensively purchased, and
were no doubt all sold excepting such
as the owners had no wish to dispose
of. I certainly was proud of the English
tenant farmers. I am sure they have
left a very marked favorable impression
upon the French. Their specimens were
so perfect, and there was so little of
bargaining or haggling for prices.
