14 Sun
Went to Lady Byles for lunch. Miss Hodgson
also there. Came home and had a rest and
did chores. Now for the morrow for which I lack
pluck. Must make it out of nothing.
15 Mon
Grey mild day. One glimpse of sun. Came home
at 5 and had a rest. dull day in office. No
progress. I lack self-confidence and pluck.
Long haul has destroyed my nerve. But luck
is coming soon. Now soon.
16 Tues
Sun shining in my window in morning. Slept
in afternoon. Misty clear again at night.
Saw the new moon. No progress yet.
17 Wed
Heavy rain. Very tired. Washed head and went
to bed.
