Sunday 26th
Mr Mills preached at 11 O'clock the inmates well behaved all day Mr Tilley at 7 O'clock

Monday 27th
Commenced work in earnest this morning expecting the Kaikouras washing going away they did not come. Emily Tomkins was very rude and impudent and stamped on one of the inmates tin mugs and broke the handle in 3 pieces. I talked to her seriously and told her that I would not have things destroyed in that way. I locked her in the cottage for several hours when she sent for me and said she would never again behave badly

Tuesday 28th
The Kaikouras washing going home to day the inmates working well and quietly. Anne Predge commenced her dreadful conduct again she was very violent the language she used was dreadful threatening to cut our own throat

Wednesday 29th
Anne Predge is as violent as ever she struck Miss Galbraith this morning. I went to the Police station and stated the case to Captain Scott. He gave directions for her to be fetched to the station to morrow morning. I shall have to appear before the magistrates which I very much dislike. Took Kate Barry to have a tooth taken out.

Thursday 30th
I went to the Police Office this morning to give evidence in Anne Predges case after my return took in a young woman of the name of Fanny Brown. She seems rather stupid she very much wanted to bring her child with her.
