Dear Bob,
last night I received yours
with the Cicada - an interesting species -
I am and have been full of business, over
head and ears, but yesterday I commenced
the article for the Ill. St. Ag. Soct, and
shall finish it today or tomorrow unless
greatly interrupted - I want you to
append a short note giving the localities
of the Locusts appearance last year and
this - how far North the crop of 1855
extends or will or how far south the last
year - harvest extended -
I treat the subject rather in a popular
manner, not going into minute details - the
principle reason for selecting this subject was
in order that their appearance [illegible] in these years
might find a permanent record in the Transaction
for these years -
