Dear Father
Yours of last Thursday evening with the papers has been received.
I shall go to Milwaukee tomorrow stay there all night - go out to Uncle Walters on Tuesday - back to Milwaukie on Wednesdy And down there by the morning train on Thursday and from here to Chicago by the evening train of the same day or perhaps I may get to Chicago Thursday noon. If I visit Uncle Walter this will be the shortest time I can make I think. I make this arrangement agreeable to your request that I should be in Chicago on Thursday. But should you receive this on Teusday and in time to mail a litter by that days mail for the north and

should then conclude you did not want me I might remain a day or two longer as I should like to - And then get home (get to The Grove) by Saturday night via stage from Waukegan.
But I dont want to be away a day when I can be at work to any purpose at home.
I have felt much better since being here till within several days when a little of the old lethargic feeling troubles me. A little inclination to be periodical too I fear - comes on every other afternoon Dr Hoy "bodes" that I must have a shake again in the spring anyway Reckon I had better fortify myself by continued doses of quinine again
Have got no orders yet - Distributed Catalogues in various places. Will get some yet
Enclosed is a very excellent article by Dr Hoy written for the Report of Wiconsin State Shool Sup't

It The Report was so badly printed that it is to be revised - But thinking you would like to get hold of it before the other papers Dr Hoy has permitted me to send it to you. He has corrected it so pray dont let them permit "materialist" for naturalist as they did in the Report - which makes a material (as Frank would say) difference in the sense.
By the way should the full Report be sent to you dont publish Bairds article which is old, old and besides used several times already and moreover I want to use it myself - or at least the grond it covers
If you get this early enough on Tuesday please write immediately if conveniant so that I may get your letter on Wednsday night should I get back here by that time. I do not however care much about
