The Grove Monday morning. Jan 3d.
Dear Bob
When I got to school this morning I found that Mr Clark was sick and that there would be no school today - So when I got home I thought the wisest thing that I could do would be to write to you as I didnot write yesterday - I always mean to write to you every Sunday - I am glad you like to get my uninteresting letters - I like to write them, though I should like to more if I could write better ones -
I suppose father is with you now. I hope he is well.
We went down to Mr Sherwins New Years eve to a sort of dance; it was rather tedious. I presume you were enjoying yourself "across

the street" - were you not?
Did you make many calls New Years day? We expect Charlie home this noon. He has been in Chicago since thursday - If he comes out he will probably go back today and go down to the "Knubbin Point." He is anxious to get at his grafting a s soon as possable - I am afraid he will have a gloomy, disagree=able time for he expects to stay a good while without coming home. Laurence is going down by-and-by to look for land and he will stay with Charlie for a while.
Aunt Deal had a "canday-pull" for the childen saturday -
