[written] Dear little Daughter.
The Day before Christmas Prof Baird got for you a p something he wished to send as a christmas present. But I suggested that as I would be sending a box home when the artic collections arrived here he had better not run the risk of having your present injured by sending it by mail.
It is a ser remarkably fine photographic copy of a celebrated series of paintings illustrating the pretty German fairy tale of the "Seven ravens and the devoted sister". - It is the prettiest thing of the kind I've seen, and will please you very much Im sure - It is too good to be risked by mail when its large size might cause it to be injured.

Tell Jem Ill write to him twixt now and next winter - .
I had a pleasant time with Sam Baird in Phila - spent all my time with him, Cassin, and young Cope who is a splendid fellow. Sam Bairds sore finger was a more serious affair than you probably supposed - and is not intirely well yet.
Love to you all Bob
