Vice Chairman of the Board
PHILIP MORRIS INCORPORATED

April 4, 1977

Dear Mr. Driskell:

Last week was the first time that I had an
opportunity to view "Two Centuries of Black
American Art," although of course I went through
your beautiful catalogue in great detail when
it was published last fall. I want to tell you
we are very grateful for the tremendous job you
did in assembling such a stunning collection.

The opening in Dallas was a very special occasion
for me -- all the more so because I had the chance
to meet you and Mrs. Driskell. We at Philip Morris
are delighted that the show has been received with
great enthusiasm in every city. We think it is
important to share this body of outstanding talent
with as many people as possible.

I am very proud of this exhibition, and I know
that many others feel exactly as I do. Our deepest
thanks for making it all possible.

Cordially,
George
