I imbrace this Favourable Oppertunity by the hands of Mr James
Howard of writing to you my Esteem'd Friend and hope these lines
may find you in health and prosperity as I love any Virginian.
I shoud be very glad to hear from you and at the same time to give me
an Account of the ways of the people as I am yet Unsettld and want
to seek a place for life am Desirous of being Acquainted with all the
Back Lands before I Conclude and likewise if a school Master might
get imployment in those parts where you now live or on the Crab Tree
as I understand you don't live far from thence Or if you coud get me into
the business of store keeping or any other such as you think I am Capable
of doing. Shoud you come to the next Superiour Court at Halifax Town
hope you will come and me as with truth you may depend on being
welcome. I have of late Riecvd letters from my Distant Friends wherein
is Containd an Account of the Death of your Brother Alexander Mr
John Woodbridge Capt [Doronmon?] Wm Dew and Charles Bornes
Wife which seems to make the place distitute. tho I shoud be glad
once more to see it tho belive I never shall: I have nothing mo[re]
worth Mentioning but Subscribe myself your ever well wisher an[d]
