Superior White Wash

Take a clean Watter tight barrel or other suitable cask
and put into it one half bushel of lime Slacken it by
pouring over it boiling hot and in sufficient quantities to
cover it about 5 inches deep & stir it briskly until the lime
is thoroughly slacked When the slackening has been effected
disolve in Watter and add, two pounds of Sulphate of Zinc
and one pound of Common Salt. These will cause the Wash to harden
and prevent its cracking which gives it an unseemly appearance
to Work. This leaves the Wash verry white and Beautiful

If desirable a beautiful Cream Colour may be Communicated
to the above by Wash by adding three pounds of yellow ochre
(or a good pearl Colour or lead Cholour, lamb black) for Fawn
colour add 4 pounds of umber, Turkish or American one pound
of Indian Red and one pound of lamb black.
