few days. We are trying to put up the fences & gathering up
some waisted Corn through the Camps & fields on Thursday

We cant hear what has become of Anthony, Ciaro, Jack,
Read, Monk Green came home They may have gone or keeping
out of they way Not seen since last Friday. Genl Pillow &
Suit at home

1864 Decr Fri 2nd / fight / Greate slaughter / 10 Genls killed & wounded /
Corn / Rain . Our horses & boys all gone /
News of desperate battle fought near or at Franklin on
yesterday Thursday 1st Dec in which the Confeds lost 10 Genls
& the loss is variously thought to be from 5,000 to 10,000
on the Confeds side The Fedls are retreating towards Nashville
they faught in the fortifications & not so many of them killed
We are trying to gather up the scatering remains of our Corn
here & there through the fields but find verry little not
enough in ordinary times to pay for the trouble of gathering.
The fences are so burned up that what we cant gather is lost
every bodys Stock is on it

It has been verry warm & raining, showry for the last 3
days. I am suspicious that our Our boys Jack, Monk & Read
was instrumental in the Fedrels taking Olia, Amanda & & the
bay or brown horse George on Thursday the 24th Novr that was
