Anna my second child will be seven years old, next Octo-
ber, she has been going to school nearly a year, & is quite smart
she is learning Dictionary & Reading. She looks as she did when
I described her last. She is the only one of the children that
has black hair, & she has more colour than the others, but
she is thin & delicately formed; as all are except Frank
he is the stoutest of our children. They are all pretty, &
if they were only as good as pretty, we would have no fault
to find. Anna is more affectionate in her manner, than
Willie; & is active & loves to be employed. Willie is rather
inclined to be lazy; though he is not different in this respect from
other children. I have now mentioned the sate of my children
I will now tell of my servants. Eliza since I last wrote has
another child Johnny now nearly 3 years old, Minerva has
had another, but it died of Whooping Cough, & she now
expects to be confined. Two servants we have had & parted with
Maria who we bought from Mr Cauble, because Jim married
her, & we sold her to Col Toby because she & Jim could not agree, &
she was no use to us. Marck Mr Perry received from Dr Rabe as
a Fee, & I sold him to Col Toby, because we had no use for him
Mary another servant, Mr Perry received from Mrs Fields as a
Fee, & we have kept her, because she proved very capable. She
about 2 months ago, was confined with her first child, & she
had convulsions for days, & was unconcious, & at the point of
death, but she recovered, & I hope has been spared to be better pre-
pared. Neither she Eliza or Minerva are married. Mary's child
I took as soon as it was born, & [nursed] it & attended to it
until Mary was able to take it; when it was five weeks old
it was suddenly taken sick & died; & the poor little thing
