7, [Continued], to carry to Richmond and went to Court house- G.C.Taylor,C.Taylor, Reuben Taylor,C.P.Howard,James Bell and Charles Bell dined here. I settled with G.C.Taylor and paid him $21.2.8.,the full balance for the hire of Jim & Sary,and for the purchase of Sary & her children for whom he gave me a bill of sale. Gave letters to G.C.Taylor for Col.Jas.Taylor,Col.E.Pendleton jr., and F.S.Taylor. Killed a shoat, gave M.Biggers a quarter.
8, Thin cluods & dropped rain in morn, fair evening. Finished Stacking Wheat. After dinner I went to J.Taylor's,whilst there Mr. Henry Buckner & Sister got there on their way to Caroline from Kentucky. I rec'd a letter from Hub'd Taylor by him. Sister Taylor at Barbour's- J.Taylor,J.Taylor jr, his wife, Nancy Taylor, C.Bell & E.Chew at home.
9, Fair morn, soon cloudyy & a little rain,cleared before noon, Some thunder & a little rain in evening- J.Taylor came here to dinner. Said J.Taylor jun'r & wife & Nancy were gone to Reu.Taylor's- _____Terrill-Mrs Madison's Overseer, sent 9/- by Jacob for Wool- sent a little more than 7 lb. Sent mare M.Biggers to H.Taliaferro's Shop to get her shod,which was done.
10, Fair and pleasant. J.Taylor came by, I went with him to a Sale of Elias Langham's property to satisfy an Ex'on of Wm.Taylor. I bought a Bay gelding Colt about 2 years old for $18. and am to pay Wm.Pollock,Sheriff,at next Court. Wm. Taylor(Fred'g) & Robert Taylor came with me from the sale & dined- the former tarried, the latter went home in evening.[ Wm Taylor, not a relative,WKA]
11, Thin clouds. W.Taylor of Fred'g went down after early breakfast. Had colt brought home, I bought yesterday. I walked to Court house, saw Rob't Taylor & wife going to D.Triplett's. wrote for 6 lb Coffee & wool cards. Read Newspaper & came home to dinner.
12, Saturday, Cloudy morning-Smart shower in evening & night. I went to a Mster at Court house,came home in the evening dined at home. M.Biggers & daughter went to Louisa. Had 13th hhd Corn removed.
13, Sunday, Clouds & a little rain in morn, some drops in evening. I went to sermon at Court house- went to J.Taylor's to dinner- Reuben Taylor & son William, J. Taylor jr & wife, E.Chew 7 J.Taylor's.
14, A few clouds in morn, Fair pleasant day. Rec'd a pair wool cards from D.Triplett's, no coffee. C.Triplett came here before noon-and staid about two hours, said he was engaged to Dine at T.Bell's. promised to pay at Court the balance due on my old account. If he can get the noney bro't from Fred'g, if not a draft for the money. Killed a young Turkey, pretty good.
15, Tuesday, Fair cool and pleasant. I began to tread wheat(Early sort)- The Colt I bought at Langham's sale was led all thet ime with the rest. M.Biggers sent me a Q'r Shoat. Took a Hive or Bees-Suppose 4 Gallons honey in it.
16, Wednesday- Very fair morn, pleasant. Treading wheat 2d day- Trod with my mare Colt & not with that I bought to-day, the latter a little lame. I sent some honey-comb to J.Taylor's; they sent word they were going to dine at Mrs.Bell's I saw Mrs Burnley & daughters, going by to Ch's Taylor's- I invited them to eat Waermelons, they did so, & went on about noon. Wm Stewart sent Daniel & got 6 lb butter. After dinner, Mrs Wardell, Reuben Smith's wife, Sally Burnley, Salley & Betsy Taylor, came here from C.Taylor's & staid two or three hours,
17, Fair day. Treading wheat. I went to J.Leathers' old Spring to dinner, there was ahunt but not much game killed, but had good fried dinner- Maj'r Moore sons William, Robert & Thomas- Stephen Fox, Thomas & Zach.Herndon, Jno Leathers, Bell & J.Gibson Taylor were the company.
18, Saturday, Pleasant day- some clouds, no rain, Trod wheat-both Colts & all the mares- I was unwell, took dose Salts- Sore throat, mouth and fever, continued bad in night.
