11, After dinner went with G.C.T. to a Ball at Wood's- Subscribers paid 10/- entrance Some of us sat up all night at Whist-my expences 5/- Lent G.C.T. 10/- to pay Wood- I sent our horses home pr Frank who brought them with C.Taylor's next morning-
12, C.Taylor & I came off before breakfast. G.C.T. staid-Heard yesterday that the Electors (10 only of them) who met at Richard the 4th Instant voted thus:-
For President, 10 for Gen'l Washington
Vice President, 5 Mr.Adams 1 Mr.Hancock, 1 Mr.Jay 3 Gov. Clinton,
Weather very fine, Frogs crying yesterday and today. G.Taylor rode to Court-house after dinner. G.C.T. came by J.Taylors & got home in evening.
13, Richard Taylor's Waggon got here about 3 o'clock this morning- with Rich'd and Colby, their books &c to go to School [to Mr.Goodlett-WKA]. Billy came with them-they mistook the way which made them so late- They brought with them a keg Molasses- We all went to C.Taylor's but G.C.T. & William Taylor heard that Miss Campbell & Miss P.Shepherd were at J.Taylor's and went there to dinner. While we were away George caught a Doe inplantation, which had been chased by hounds. 14, Hub Taylor, J.Taylor, C.Taylor, Bowie Pendleton & Mr.T.Bell dined here- Mr Bell came from School-house, where the master & others were cramming it- Billy Taylor very unwell this evening. Weather very cold to-day.
15, Billy Taylor better to-day- C.Taylor came by and I went with him to J.Taylor's Reu Taylor, Bowie Pendleton, Misses Betsy Campbell, S.Barbour & Patsy Throckmorton, [16] T, Barbour's wife there- -[Sunday]-
Snow fell last night about an inch deep but melted by noon to-day. Wm.R.Taylor set 16, off with Stage Waggon on his return home to Caroline. I went with Richard and Colby to School, where I found Mr.Goodlett & some Scholars. Saw Capt Burnley there- Met with uncle Taylor who came to Midland- G.C.T. went to Mr.Webbs to send some letters to Richmond. Uncle Taylor dined and went home in evening.
17, Hub'd Taylor came here to breakfast- I went with him to Col Madisons. Capt.W.Bell, Mr.Shepherd, Francis, Ambrose & William Madison there- Col. Madison jr was at home- intends to set out tomorrow for Fredericksburg and to proceed in the Stage to New York- Mr.Shepherd, Hub'd Taylor and myself came away in evening- G.C.Taylor got home before noon.
18, Snowed before day and at morning an inch deep, a light freezing mist all day & quite Cloudy- Richard Taylor carried a Copy book to School. Lent my father 7/6 for G.C.T. who went to Uncle Taylor's after dinner, from whence he is tomorrow to set out for Winchester to accompany Cousin *Jane Taylor to Orange. I sent a Guinea pr G.C.T. with measure, to get me a pair Shoes. [Jane Taylor, daughter of Erasmus & Jane (Moore) Taylor- she married Chas. P.Howard]
19, Snowed last night like a mist, and snowed all day very fast and continued all night. G.C.Taylor did not go to Winchester, but came to J.Taylor's- Rich'd & Colby did not go to school-
20, Snowed a little this morning & was 11 or 12 inches deep- Cleared about 10 o'clock & moderate. J.Griffy was here and wanted a load but my father did not want to send one to Fredericksburg- M.Perry was here, said only 4 lambs of 13 are alive- G.T. told him to kill 2 of the hogs now fattening. G.C.T. did not come home-
21, Snowed in morning, hailed and rained the rest of the day- G.C.Taylor set out for Winchester from Uncle Taylor's-
