Moses Perry was here in evening. 2, Hail and rain in the night, great deal of ice and Sleet this morning-Cloudy, dark rainy weather & Sleet the whole day- J.Taylor, J.Pendleton and Charles Taylor spent the day here, & went away in the night- 3, Sleet continues, cloudy & mist the whole day- Ja Taylor & son, C.Taylor, John Taylor & J.Pendleton dined here- John Taylor went to his fathers about sunset, intends to Dunlop's sale at Bowling-Green next Monday-the others, except J.Taylor jr staid till bed time- [Sheet below this, torn] 4, [Sunday] The Sleet went off in the night ole _________ Went with my father to J.Taylor_______ T,Barbour & families there. R.________ dined there. 5, G.Taylor went to C.Taylors ______ a Sow at Capt Dade's________ told Capt Dade to kill kept 3 pigs, the sow_______ 6, My father sent George to Capt Dades, he brought the Sow mentioned the 5th, which weighed 73 lb Nett- Weather clear and moderate- we dined at home yesterday and to-day- J.Taylor's wife sent us a Twelfth cake at Sunset. 7, Went with G.Taylor to Election of Elector. The day was good, though but few people met. There was only Gen'l Stevens & Col W.Cabell voted for, the former had upwards of an hundred & the latter four votes.-[Gen.Edward Stevens & Col.Wm Cabell- PFT] 8, Cloudy morning but not very cold- I dined at home, walked after dinner to J.Taylor's & ret'd at night- [Sheet below this, torn] 9, My father rode to Court house and came to J.Taylor's______her. I went over also - Uncle & Aunt Taylor_____e, Col Madison's________eturned & heard that Gen Stevens _______ votes in Culpeper- Spotsylvania ________le- Cabell all in Amherst _____ Buckingham & Fluvanna _______ Culpeper- Heard that ______. 10, Went with G.Taylor to Capt Burnley's-Maj'r Moore, Reu Taylor, Ja Taylor, John Pendleton & his wife dined there- very cold and cloudy- Tho's Davis & John Pannill came for a license for said Davis & Betsy Pannill- 11, A Snow fell before day about two inches deep, cleared about sunrise- Yesterday, at Capt Burnley's, got Maj'r Moore to take my Military Certificates, to draw warrants for interest on them at Richmond where he intends next week, also let him have Six dol's Indents (of G.Taylor's) to settle for hereafter-Capt Burnley dined here, and went in evening to J.Taylor's- [Sunday] 12, Cold and hazy- C.Taylor went by with his gun and returned to dinner, had killed a pheasant, two hares & 3 partidges- Will (hired to Prichard last year) got here. 13, Snowed a little last night and hail fell 3 inches deep- cloudy, hail & mist all day- J.Taylor, J.Pendleton, C.Taylor & Capt Burnley dined here- 14, Cleared in the morning- the hail lies on ground about 3 inches deep & hard enough to bear a man.
