Bowie Pendleton was here in evening. Capt Burnley paid me £6.8.0 in full for War'ts I let him have. M.Perry informed my father that he wished to leave his business & rec'm'd Jas.Brockman. 30, J.Barbour D.S. staid here till breakfast. He & G.C.Taylor went with the young men from J.Taylor's to Herndon's Mill to Scate. Wm.Bowling was here & recommended one Biggers, to my father for overseer- I sent by W.Bowling 11/- to Mrs Steward for making Coat for Frank. 31, Hear that Capt.Jos Wood died the 29th instant at night-This day extremely cold windy- I was very unwell.
