Continued to rain moderately all day. 10, Foffy, Cloudy & in evening a little rain- 11, Went to the store & bought some articles. Uncle & Aunt Taylor was Dealing at Langham's store. The weather from warm, a little cool. 12, Went to Election for a Senator- Mr.Strother got 73, Davenport 25 Votes- the weather cool and cloudy- Not many people met and some did not vote. We ret'd & dined at home. 13, [SUNDAY] Charles Taylor called here early on his way to Fredericksburg. We dined at home. 14, Reuben Mallory brought 55 1 /4 yds Linen, wt 32 1/2 lb., his sister wove. My father sent some yarn by him- I sent 11 1/2 lb Spun Cotton to be wove- Also some yarn to see if his mother will knit it- let him have 1 lb knitting pins w'ch I told him I would give for knitting of one pair of stockings- and not more than 3/- for the other- Rained a little before noon and a good deal in the evening, with high South wind- Capt Burnley dined here. 15, Cleared in the night- Weather moderate. I took a dose of Salts. 16, Took some Ipecachuana- Mr.Wm.Taylor [Redplains] came here in evening. J.Taylor was here an hour or two before- but neither dined here. 17, J.Taylor sent No.1.2.3. National Gazette and afterwards came himself & dined. 18, Uncle Taylor, Mr Balmain, Col Madison, Maj'r Hite, Rob't Taylor and Capt Burnley dined here. 19, C.Taylor sent my father a pr Breeches & me Stoughtons bitters, he ret'd from below last night- Mr.Snodgrass & Jas Taylor dined here- heard J.Taylor's wife was del'd of a son yesterday at Mrs Dade's. Mr Snodgrass went in evening to the store- I also rode there- got 2 pr yarn hose for G.Taylor at A Shepherds 20, Sunday, Weather has been hazy & cool by intervals lately not no falling weather- We dined at home. 21, My father went to Col.Madison's-the day cloudy and the boys did not go to School- Took the large Been hive, not so much honey as if taken sooner, some drops rain. I was very unwell, took a dose of Salts at night. 22, Rained a good deal last night- the morning fine, I went to Mr.W.Taylor's early & breakfasted (Jenny Taylor there) W.Taylor went with me to Hyde's, I bo't sundries & returned & dined at Mr.Taylor's- My father returned at night. Reu Taylor came here in evening & bor'd 1/2 bus Salt- 23, Wm.Pollock came here while we were at dinner and summoned me to Culp'r Court a witness in his suit ag't Bell- I went with him to Mr.Downey's 24, Cloudy- I went with W.Pollock to Culp'r Court- the Suit not being called, I staid at Broaduses- Smart rain in the night. 25, I gave my deposition, claimed attendance & about 2 o'clock left Culp'r Court house with Rob Taylor & Jas Bell & got home 6 o'clock- Saw a meteor after Sunset- Cool day, Clear at night. When I got home G.C.Taylor was here, he came down two days ago and went yesterday to Joshua Fry's wedding to Kitty Walker & returned this evening- Expences 12/- at Culp'r Court- [Kitty Walker was dau. of Capt. Walker, who lived at the Welc place and died about 1800-WKA] 26, Hard frost- Myfather, G.C.Taylor & I went to J.Taylor's. Col.T Barbour's wife & daughters & J.Barbour dined there. J.Taylor gave me A Madison's Will to keep (it is sealed up). 27, [SUNDAY] J.Taylor & son, Mr.Snodgrass & C.Taylor dined here. Weather clear & moderate. 28, Went to Court- all of us- Bot 1/2 Bus Oysters in Shells. Cool and some rain in evening w'ch made miry weather. Col.Wm White came home with us at night- 29, Went again to Court, the boys went to School. 30, G.C.Taylor went to Dr.Walker's- My father & I went to Court- Capt Conway came home with us.
