From the high advantages of this lady, of birth, edu-
cation and standing, it was in her power to disp-
erse lasting blessings and most impressive wh-
olesome examples to her fair country-women
around her. As it is it is feared she has for some
time afforded no good influence. Let her example
be a solemn warning.
I will now relate this affair as [con consconeal tis?]

cian. It was last December. Mr Jones on Monday
morning picked up a note in which the writer

for what his wife knew as usual till the middle
or the last of the week. The next night, Tuesday,
Mr. J. came home in the night. His trusty servant
informed him before he went in his house that
Dr. J was in the room with his mistress. Mr J.
went into the room, The amored parties hearing
him coming. Mr J. met Dr. J. at his wife's
room door. Dr. J. walked by him and spoke to
him in his usual way, "good evening Mr. Jones."
Mr. J. cursed him and said "how dare you
speak to me," This is one account. Another [struck: is]
account is Mr. J. actually caught the Doctor
in his wife's room, in bed her her. At present
so far as I have learned, there is but one opinion
as to the truth of his wife's guilt. One confirma-
tion is, that Dr. J. had a very lucrative practice
in and around Herford, and immediately after
his falling on evil times he sold out to another
physician for the purpose of going to some Southern
State - he left Herford immediately and went to his
fathers in Chowan County. I learn that a con-
fediential friend of both Jones and Johnson, had
