Spiritual Rappings!
"Spiritual rappings", "Spiritual manifestations"
is at this time, and has been for a con-
siderable time, an excitingly intersting sub-
ject throughout the United States, by the
[Prep?] and by Society generally.

At first some more than a year ago perhaps
(I recollect not how ago) I heeded little these
things speaking from New England, Connet-
icut in particular, the land of [??] [??]-
ob [??] memory. But gradually they came further
on this way. They were New York. There
were occasionally strange wonderful accounts
given in [June?] [???] on what
purported to be good authority, and redeemable by
other [???]. It was and has been and is
quite a theme of the Prep. Still I had but
little attention to it.

At length the Hon N. P. Tallmadge, former-
ly a U.S. Senator from New York and now
of that State, a gentleman well known and
of high authority, published over his [??]-
nature, wonderful accounts of knocking in com-
pliance to questions, or spiritual manifestations or
wahtever it may or [??] be called, [??]
by himself and others also of high authority.
This made us stare and wonder. [Learned?], scientific
is now of highest [??] gave alternatives
and accounted the fact. What it is, is the question.
