Dr Sir you may perhaps recollect that at the last Term of Chatham County Court a Judge ment was obtained against our Landlord at Pittsboro William Poe as one of the endorsers of Cocke, on which an execution was issued on Thursday evening on Friday morning earley and immedeately Levi'd on all his property. At 10 O clock on Friday morning the Court met again & Continued in Session untill 12 so that the execution was unquestionably issued & Served during the actual Sitting of the Court —
Believing the whole proceeding was illegal & void we (Mr Stedman & Myself) prevailed on Mr Poe to grant us judgements before a magestrate for the arrg't of our claims (about $500.) which we immedeately caused to be Served on the Property previously Served on by the Shff know ing that if it done no good it could do no harm
Will you advise me particularly under the above Statement how to proceed in Securing the Amt. of our claims
Cannot the proceedings of the Shff be stopp'd. Poe has given him a bond to produce the property on the day of Sale is not that Bond void for any other infor mation which you may want Mr Poe will be able to give if you more Particularly than I can — Will you be good enough to write me Particularly by his return & I will with [pleasure?] hand you the [illegible] at the Sup Court In hast I am DSir Yours Sincerely
