Petersburg April 1st 1822 Dear Sir, We can not account for your unusual silence respecting our business in your hand, & to our several solicitations ___when our [JB is as in?] Hillsborough in Nov you then promised that you would place sum fund to the amt of 2500 Dols, by the 25th of Dec last ---we have only since Nov rec' one letter from you enclosing Seven hundred Dollars --- On the 13th ultim we wrote to you stating the arrangment we had entered into with Hinton & Brame and wishing you without delay to send on your dft on them our fav. for the amt of our cliam aft D Rose to account for your [illegible} it in this business we are at a loss, we particularly mention it to you our interest require immediate attention, indeed the various disappointments we have met with, has subject'd us to unpleasant feelings, injury, & some loss because in our distressed & embarrass'd situation we come under engagement bottom'd upon your promise & what we might reasonably expect from you We are limited in our means, and a little now helps us a great deal. We today enclosed D Fanning dft on you at sight or a far for $340.72 to our friend M Kirkland, we eish you to accept it a take it in and if you have made the money enclose it to us with what ever sum you have collect'd on our acct if the money is not made taken in the Dft & give or send on yr receipt for the amt

and plan the same to the {illegible](illegible) acct is the money made from Scott & Murphys from Child & Clancy & Carrington & the [Virginia ?] Bank is getting impatient for the amt of Carrington & we do not wish indulgence given on any of the cliams, without it is [illegible] to sum the debt our reception will not warrent in giving any. We were fortunate in reasons debt you have, we doubt not, got everything secur'd & will proceed to make the money as soon as the law will allow, or we understand he is gone off ---- John ODanial owes us for six hundd'd to one thousand Dollars, you will see him at Rockingham please say to him he has not attended to our letters, give us your opinion of him; we must sue him in the Feder al court if he does not pay before the time of buying such ___ Mr Henderson saw a W Moore at [Towstry?] who says he is security for Hill's appearance and off'd to pay half the debt rather than be at the trouble of bringing Hill back (Hill was security for RA Taylor) had you not better prep that business they say Hill has property & we do not think he will be brought back you are the best judge of the situation of the business we wish it attended to. Raleigh - April 2nd 1822 My [Dromt?] Armo - I stole Mr Brunswick for a few minutes to ask you for the favor of your attention to some of my [foruring?] matters - First however let me confess the hope that by this time your health is entirely [illegible?] that you will be enable to enjoy this fine open spting weather & can take much pleasure of this general Season, ni safer [intrusting?] your garden. - My [illegible?] ought also to be an object of some solicitus to [illegible] it is now high time that the [illegible] in the [illegible]. Do tile Cupid & Avery to push on & plant this week if possible: I shall to be it especially kind in you if all hands can be turned out & do that work whern it is ready. I suppose that Harry can get the proceed [illegible}0] & laid off ready for plant -ing [illigible]rig & all our people litter big can finish it in one day I then to hope. Mr Cupid to drop two grassy together to or to save the troubke of uplautering K to plant Pumpkins with the [Cornxlet?] there be thick - Direct him too to keep all the children picking stone off the meadows & grass lots until then so that immediately after -wards they can be howled off before the [illegible?] gets too high. [illegible?] -self can keep on working in the garden until the corn ground is in a [illegible] for the feed; I should keep from that you ought to have your melons in the ground for the first thing now - There are plenty of ashes for them & the cucumber & also for [illegible] of the other [illegible] --- Don't let Patrick forget to turn the trust, recollecting that he does not know half as much about it as you do, be pleased to show him how you want it done - _ The trusties havent yet appointed a Person in the place of Mr Hooper - we have had a meeting but have done nothing offici-- -tivily - Enough however has approved to convince me that our friend Mr Armo M Ruffin [Illegible]
