The same -- Bed at 4 1/2 & slept till nearly 11 AM -- PM about town -- Evening wrote & mailed letters to Joe E Eckley, Va City, and Chas Dondero San Francisco -- Bed at 12 --

Saturday Nov 1, 1884

The same -- About town electioneering more or less -- Evening I attended a variety arrangement in the shape of a man & wife & 2 daughters at International Hall, called "Taylor's Tourists" -- They are from the East -- Some good singing, a cornet solo, and some very excellent banjo playing, & a good jig -- good house -- ran about town awhile -- Bed at 2 -- lots of politics -- Things is a bilin' -- The new standard time for the Pacific coast section of the Central Pacific was adopted and put into effect today for the first time -- About ten minutes faster than old time -- Wright change his regulator clock accordingly, and most everybody changed their watches and clocks to correspondent -- I changed mine --

The same -- About town & house -- Evening the same -- Bed at 12 -- freezing --

Monday Nove 3

Clear & pleasant -- cool -- About town -- lots of politics & preparation for tomorrow -- Met Warner Hillyer -- Is in town with his wife -- She is knocked up big & will stay till the trouble is over -- Evening busy fixing up poll lists, tally sheets etc -- Bed at 4, in my clothes --
