Monday Nov 10

Cloudy & chilly -- About town -- Democracy preparing for a grand Cleveland ratification blowout this evening -- putting up flags etc all along Main street and vicinity -- Evening at 7 the band was out and with procession marched to Upper Austin, came back on train of half a dozen flats with torches, beacons, etc. All got off at International -- AT Creswell and James Egan addressed the crowd from the International balcony -- Cannon firing on south hillside & a big sagebrush bonfire, up there -- 3 bonfires along Main st -- one in front of International one by Court House & one up at Joe Moss' -- Houses illuminated in windows, & lots of Chinese lanterns strung out in front -- gay -- reminded me of Gold Hill and

Eunice -- More writing -- paper

Virginia in times past, on such occasions -- Home -- commenced letter to Eunice but got sleepy, & went to bed at 12 --
