AM cool & blustering -- cloudy -- PM more so -- very dusty -- toward evening lively cold snowstorm set in & continued -- Morning I was down to train at 10, & saw the Mexican Typical Orchestra arrive -- Quite a crowd there to see them -- 34 in all -- Evening being busy on mining report I could not attend until performance nearly over -- Very fine -- good house -- Sweetest music I have heard for many a day -- Telegraphed wife this PM about pass, & she says she will come tomorrow -- Through in office at 2 -- Home still snowing -- fully 5 inches on the ground -- cold -- Made good fire -- wrote letter to M H de Young on Chronicle, S.F. offering to be special agent for local telegraphic reports at $20 per month -- Bed at 5 --

Snow storming & cold Freezing all day in the shade -- Snow 6 or 7 inches deep -- Wife came up on morning train -- We went to breakfast at Chaumond's but dined at home -- PM I worked in office awhile -- evening took wife to theater -- Mexican Orchestra -- Slim house, & cold but good performance -- Home at 10:30 -- Office at 11 through at 12:30 -- Home at 1 -- Bed 1:30 -- Earliest yet -- cold 22 deg above zero --
