AM clear & hot -- After light breakfast took 7:10 passenger train for Va -- Arrived at 10 AM -- Home to room -- Brought my old banjo up -- Took it apart, cleaned it nicely -- took neck to Fredericks and got him to varnish it -- Clouded up at noon & in PM had a pretty good rain, enough to lay dust and cool the air finely -- Work

Tuesday July 13

Hot & sultry -- 86 deg -- PM a few thunder clouds rolled across the sky, but no wet fell -- I fixed up a lot of tin whistle plageolets -- 4 A's and 3 high D's [con???saved] the mouth pieces, rasped off their [???] and sand papered and polished them all off smooth & bright -- Good instruments -- Bed at 2:30 --
