train at 5:25 -- Left for Reno at 7 in down train -- Found all right -- Bed at 10 [vx?]

Thursday Oct 14

Same -- Carson by morning train & in PM attended the races -- Went to Va by evening train -- Went to room & wrote report of races, etc -- took to office -- Went to theater -- ["Octoroony"?] -- Very well played -- Slim house -- Bed at 4:30 -- All work discontinued on 3200 level from the Combination shaft at noon yesterday -- Deepest Comstock mining stopped for first time -- Will work from 2400 level up hereafter -- Footlight resumed

Clear but windy & unpleasant -- Took morning train for Carson -- loafed about town till PM -- rode out to the races -- very poorly attended -- trotting -- Back to Carson at 5 -- Telegram hed report to Enterprise & at 7 left on down train for Reno -- Found all well -- Bed at 10 --

Saturday Oct 16

Variable blustering, cold, cloudy with light showers in the evening -- took the morning train for Carson -- Hon George W Cassidy on board, also -- Sam Jones, Dick Day, et al -- Bound for Va -- I stopped off at Carson -- The races indefinitely
