Clear & pleasant -- Took the morning train for Virginia -- Was about town as usual in PM & evening -- Bed at 1 -- Meeting of Centennial Trustees held this PM, levied assessment of 2 cts per share, delinquent December 6th.

Same -- Took morning train for Reno -- All right there -- Took down gallon jar of apricots & pickle jars of gooseberries that I put up in "rex magnus" last They looked as fresh and good as ever but the jolting of the cars shook the apricots to mushy condition -- opened them & found they were no good -- Tasted bitter somewhat soured, and totally insipid and unacceptable -- The gooseberries, being green, kept firm and good but had lost most of their flavor -- The process is a failure, and an
