Same -- As usual -- Evening I got a 2 horse buggy team and driver & went to Silver City to Republican Campaign meeting at Miners Union Hall -- Good attendance -- H Rolfe, Senator J P Jones and Hon W M Stewart addressed the meeting -- Home to Va at 12 -- Went to office & wrote 2/3 column of report -- Bed at 5 --

Cloudy but pleasant -- Rose at noon -- A great many people on C st -- looks like old bonanza times -- Quite a bloom in stocks the last 3 or 4 days, owing to reported

Stocks Booming Rep Rally at Va

strike of extensive body of good paying ore on 1400 level on Con Cal & Va mine, extending into Ophir -- CC & Va touched $10, and Ophir $3.65. Lots of political buzzing also going on, & big Rep rally at Opera House this evening -- I was about town, some -- also at room mending, noting, etc -- Fried a nice flounder for dinner & ate it all -- Evening attended the speaking at Opera House -- Big bonfires on C & B streets -- 3 of them, 2 on C -- Brass Band -- House full -- Stewart long & forcible address -- Rolfe and E O [Lurmo?] spoke -- Senator Jones came in amid great applause -- Was called loudly for, and forced to speak although not feeling able -- He did finely & carried his ardience with him completely -- Bed at 1 --
