Heavily cloudy -- PM & evening intermittent snow squalls, settling down to a good square snow storm that deposited about 6 inches before midnight -- Didn't effect much today -- Bed at 1 -- Several cutters were out this evening, enjoying the first sleighing of the season --

Friday Dec 2

Same -- About 6 inches of snow this morning -- grocery wagons on runners, but not the Gold Hill 'bus -- as the sleighing was not good at GH. Evening at Opera House --

Play "Natural Gas" by the Gilbert, Donnelly & Girard farce comedy company -- Very amusing -- no plot -- only lots of good fun -- About 1/2 of a house --

Saturday Dec 3

Cloudy, with occasional, light falls of snow -- Sleighing pretty fair yet along B & C streets -- I accomplished nothing today -- Evening the electric light was exhibited for the first time for public use in this city -- In the Delta saloon, and also sidewalk lamp in front of the Old [Magnolia?] saloon -- Attracted much attention -- Been in use for about a week at the new Chollar mill & the Chollar, Norcross
