Sunday May 13

Same -- very dusty, breezy & disagreeable -- PM meeting of the Exempts -- Didn't attend -- McKinnon lessee of Enterprise got me and directed that I take hold and assume the position of local editor and reporter of that paper commencing tomorrow morning. I consented. Bed 12 --

Monday May 14

Stormy, dusty blustering, chilly and filthy day -- PM a light snow laid the dust a little -- cold & raw toward evening -- I went to work as local of the Enterprise this PM -- Took chair, scissors & paste pat down to office -- went through exchanges -- Myself and Geo R Paynter, the editor in chief work in same room -- front office -- Wrote lots & got up good local. Through reading the proofs & left office at 1,30 -- Bed at 2:30 -- About 2 inches of snow on the roofs & walks -- melted in the streets as it fell.

Clear & cold -- Snow and ice in shade, all day -- sharp cold wind from S.W. Localized as usual -- Office started in, setting type, an hour earlier than usual -- 6 PM -- so I followed suit -- from 2 PM to 12:30 when I read last
