Clear & Warm very pleasant -- I was busy at room most of day moving into Room 5 having to vacate this room No 7 which I have occupied for the past 9 years, because [Con Ahern] of the Crystal saloon downstairs wants the three rooms en suite, 6, 7 & 8 -- Worked hard making partial removal of my accumulation -- books enough to start a book store -- Bed at 11 --

Wednesday May 30

Variable but warm & pleasant with a light shower or two at evening -- "Memorial Day" was observed fully up to the average -- [?] -- was not present as promised by reason pressing business away -- The military & general procession was fine -- Exercises at Opera House, ditto. I was busy at my removal to room 5. Slept there this night -- Have occupied Room 7 since March 22, 1885 -- over 9 years -- Big accumulation of general truck and dust & dirt -- Wearisome move -- Not as good a room as No 7,

Was so busy moving that I was not on the street at all, merely stepped down to the C st door in time to see most of the procession pass along in its way to cemetry -- Didn't
