Cloudy, variable, freezing in shade all day -- very wintry -- PM wrote 2 page letter to Senator Jones, Palace Hotel, S.F. & sent it by late evening train --

Same -- thawy -- threatening storm --

Tuesday Nov 22

Clear & pleasant -- PM wrote No 11 4 pages & sent it in evening train at 9 to the Wells Herald (pay called for) -- Corbett-Sharkey fight in NY this evening -- Henry Riter had the dispatches at his saloon and big crowd heard the bulletins read aloud as fast as received. Quite an excitement in SF and all over the country regarding it -- Dispatch has said the Lenox Athletic club rooms densely crowded to see the fight -- 20 rounds contest -- catch weights, for championship of world. Sharkey knocked Corbett down in second round -- All other rounds lively fighting & about even -- no blood & little hurt -- Ninth round close
