Cloudy, with 1 or 2 light sprinkles -- About 10 oclock in the evening a smart shower fell -- Grant for several days has been telegraphically reported to be dying slowing but surely, from cancer at root of his tongue, and throat, according to the doctors, and tonight telegrams said he was thought to be dying from

Hemorrhage therefrom but at 10:30 was resting comfortably -- I to bed at 2 -- Great interest manifested by people everywhere regarding Grant & his condition -- I don't believe his doctors know much more about his disease that* Garfield's doctors did about his wound -- May not be cancer at all --

Clear and pleasant, as usual -- Work as usual -- Home at 2 -- read & wrote awhile -- Bed at 4 --

Cloudy, with a few light April showers during PM & evening -- Mining report day -- Got along finely -- Bed at 1:30 --
