Wife comes to Va
Friday May 1, 1885
Cloudy during most of day till toward evening- A few light showers about noon- Got letter from wife telling that she was coming up this evening- I worked lively at my mining report, and got it over half up before 7 when I went to train and met wife and took her to supper at (Fitmier and Armbrust's) - Then took her to Doe Kirby's and left her to pass evening with Lucy- Finished mining report, and read proof of it- Then took wife up to my room- and went back to office 11- Through at 2 and to bed with wife-

Sky variable- Warmest day of season- Rose at 8- wife and I took breakfast and then a walk to Gold Hill- where she was to meet (Mrs. Dwight) Gov. Adam's mother, who was with the Gov. coming up on the cars from Carson- Got there just a little too late- Went down to Mrs. Robinson's- upstairs in Dr. Hall's building- waited

about time, and then found that Mrs. D. has gone down to Stevenson's in his buggy- Gov. gone up to Va- Buggy returned and took wife and Mrs. R down there also- Saw old Jane at Robinson's- Wife and the others staid at Stevenson's all day- I was about town 3 or 4 hours visiting the business places, saloons etc.- Rode up on
