Piper's New Opera House- I was there and saw the whole performance- Very fine indeed- About 250 people there- Rather of a poor house considering the occaion-- After show, a dance till 12 oclock- I got back to the office at 10:30- worked hard- Through at 2- Bed 3- Paid my room rent this PM to Joe Douglass to 1st of May, $10.40- Also paid to Chas Rewson, Secy, my exempt dues to May 1st $6-

Variable- A smart shower about noon laid dust finely- R M Clarke Jr., son of well kown Carson attorney R M Clarke shot himself in the head with a Smith and Wesson 38 caliber revolver, at his room over WF & Cos Express office- died in 2 hours- cause gambling and dissipation and probably using money that did not belong to him- He was messenger and delivery clerk for WF & Co- Body sent to Carson tonight- Bullet went in about an inch above right ear and ranged upward and backward- laid down on bed in his clothes, fired himself out- Evening I attended coroners inquest and got all the testimony- Home at 2:30- Bed a 3- Attend and reported county comissioners today-
